Welcome to
The Chequers Inn Elston

A Proper Pub
A Country Pub and Restaurant

In the small village of Elston, tucked away in the Nottinghamshire countryside, lies The Chequers Inn; a traditional country pub at the heart of the village – in more ways than one.

With its relaxed style and cosy corners, the 19th Century coaching inn has been a part of village life since 1840. Friendly and relaxed, we’re open 12 till close Wednesday to Sunday. Serving a range of classic beverages, wines and spirits alongside an extensive selection of gins and tempting bar and restaurant menus.

The Chequers Inn
A Warm Welcome

The Chequers Inn is a true village pub, open to everyone and with a friendly smile for all. We welcome children and can provide high chairs if required as well as meals from our tasty children’s menu. We’re dog-friendly too, with a ready supply of treats and belly rubs for your four-legged friends.

Heritage
Our History

The Chequers Inn was one of three pubs in Elston in the 19th Century. As the only inn in the village it was the only establishment to be licensed to sell spirits as well as beer and wine; the others were classed as beer houses. These days you’ll find some of the best food around alongside those beers, wines and spirits – and a welcome that’s just as warm as it was 140 years ago.
